Lib Dems Take the Lead in Oldham Borough9.23.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 2nd May 2008
On Thursday, the Liberal Democrats gained four seats in the elections to Oldham Borough Council, to become the largest group with 30 of the 60 seats. Phil Holley for the Liberal Democrats won the seat in Hollinwood, the Lib Dems now hold all three seats in the ward. Diane Williamson becomes the second Councillor in the Royton South ward for the Lib Dems along with Cllr David Shaw. In the Alexandra ward, Martin Dinoff was elected for the Lib Dems. The fourth gain for the Lib Dems sees the return of Mohammed Masud in the St Mary's ward.
