STOP THE KILLING IN GAZA - MARK ALCOCK11.28.00pm GMT Tue 13th Jan 2009
Mark Alcock, Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Oldham West & Royton, has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Mark Alcock is calling on the Israeli's to stop the bombing and Hamas to stop firing missiles into Israeli. Mark Alcock said, " The killing has to STOP it is no good the Israeli's trying to crack a nut with a sledge hammer, the Israeli's and Hamas have to agree an immediate ceasefire and then sit round the table and come to a solution to their differences including the two state solution". Mark said, "The attacks in Gaza has been completely disproportionate. Israel of course has a right to defend itself, but their actions have been well beyond self-defence and have resulted in 900+ civilian deaths, and thousands injured. The UN says that more than 40% of those killed are women and children." Mark Alcock, has written to the Prime Minister, asking that Britain does all it can to get a ceasefire to stop the killing now, and then to work to achieve a solution to this ongoing disaster. The continued killing of innocent civilians on both sides has to stop, the deaths are just pushing the region into a possible war that will not do anyone any good at all."
