Local Shadow MP for Oldham West & Royton including Chadderton, Mark Alcock said, "I would put Oldham West & Royton including Chadderton first if elected on May 6th".

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Oldham West & Royton including Chadderton on May 6th, Mark Alcock, has hit the ground running with his campaign team, pledging to 'put Oldham West & Royton first' as the Liberal Democrat MP.

Commenting Mark said, "With Labour and the Conservatives struggling to maintain public confidence in the wake of the expenses and cash-for-influence scandals, this is an unprecedented election.

"Oldham West & Royton including Chadderton has been served by the same Labour MP for 40 years, many residents say that they want a change from the same old Labour party.

Across Oldham West & Royton including Chadderton, more and more people are now pledging their support for the Liberal Democrats.

"The Conservatives cannot win here after coming third in local elections in the new constituency of Oldham West & Royton in 2008.

"Similarly people are not convinced by the Conservatives whose new candidate has only just appeared, and they don't know anything about him."

"I am the only candidate who lives locally with a consistent track-record of standing up for our area. I have a real stake in Oldham West & Royton's future as I rely on local services and I live in Oldham with my three daughters and two grandchildren."

"If elected I will continue to live in Oldham, as I believe that you need to live in the community that you want to represent, not just visit it occasionally.

"I don't see the job of an MP of being in London and making speeches, I see it as being in the constituency and using the office of being an MP to help the very people who elected me."

"My campaign is about 'putting Oldham West & Royton including Chadderton first'. Neither the Labour or Conservative candidates can say the same - theirs is more about doing what their party tells them."
